Hi. I’ll be your guide for today’s revolution ⚡️ 🎪.
Our objective? Tear down the status quo of corporate learning and make workplace learning and development more fun, more inspiring, more engaging, more personal and easier than ever to access.
At least, that’s what I dream about every day when I speak to yet another company that comes to us to bring life to its stale, cumbersome LMS and actually deliver a powerful return on investment.
Now, I’m not saying we haven’t made unbelievable progress up until this point – the evolution of corporate learning has been incredible over the past couple of decades.
We want all systems to engage and excite your teams, whilst providing real business cases they they are positively affecting your teams behaviours
Despite this, it’s impossible to deny that there’s a huge gap – that’s only getting bigger – between the digital content and learning experiences our employees are enjoying at home compared to what they experience at work.
And we need to bridge that gap to ensure our employees – who yearn for learning and development opportunities – are inspired to engage with our workplace learning experiences.
Traditional, off-the-shelf LMS products dominate the corporate learning landscape.
However, they’re heavily templated, which means they often fail to address the unique needs of individual organisations and individual employees.
These systems are like factory-assembled cars in a world that craves custom-built luxury vehicles. They lack the personal touch, the customisation, and, crucially, the engagement needed to keep employees invested in their learning journey.
They lack the magic we need to make workplace learning enjoyable.
This means that nine out of 10 employees couldn’t tell much of a difference between their workplace pre-training versus post-training.
This can all be referenced from this 2023 Gallup article
What a waste of potential!
And, in my opinion, this was the case even before the rise of addictive, highly engaging apps that are used every day outside of work by our employees and have led to significantly higher standards when it comes to content consumption and the quality of user experience.
Consider the apps we love:
These platforms are successful because they’re built around the user’s experience, leveraging personalisation and gamification to keep engagement high.
Why should workplace learning be any different?
At Electric Circus, we strongly believe that corporate learning can – and should – be just as engaging, personalised, and interactive as these apps.
And this isn’t just an opinion plucked out of the air. The work we’ve done with some of the biggest companies on the planet has shown it to be the case.
Imagine an LMS that knows your employees as well as Netflix knows its users. Personalised learning paths tailored to individual needs and preferences can transform how employees engage with learning materials.
Think beyond boring quizzes. Gamify your learning processes with points, badges, and real-time feedback. Turn learning into a series of challenges that employees are excited to tackle.
Offer interactive, real-time feedback mechanisms like Yousician. This ensures that learning is not only engaging but also immediately applicable to real-world scenarios.
Your LMS typically can’t do this off-the-shelf. But we can change all that.
Josh Bersin talks about “learning in the flow of work” being the future of corporate learning. He says learning shouldn’t be a separate, isolated activity but an integrated part of daily work. He said this back in 2018.
I don’t think we could say that we’ve managed to achieve that in the last six years, do you?
Although 94% of workers say they see the benefit of making time for learning, only 49% make time to actually do it.
That’s why we’re now starting to see a huge rise in demand for micro-learning or nano-learning: “short bursts of instruction to help people make progress in small bites”. According to LinkedIn’s 2024 Workplace Learning Report 47% of L&D teams plan to deploy micro-learning projects in 2024.
But my guess would be all of those teams would struggle to do so with the LMS solution they have at their disposal currently.
So, I believe it’s time for a radical shift.
Time to move away from outdated, one-size-fits-all LMS solutions and embrace the future of personalised, engaging learning experiences that don’t just make learning more enjoyable, but drive tangible business outcomes.
At Electric Circus, we’re committed to this transformation. We draw inspiration from the most engaging digital platforms in the world to create bespoke learning systems that truly resonate with employees.
We don’t believe in settling for the mediocre. Our goal is to bridge the gap between the digital experiences employees love and the learning systems they use at work.
So, will you join us in our revolution?
