Powering Internal Mobility With Visual Career Roadmaps

Career Pathways

Helping CameronLNG employees see, and reach, their potential

Internal Mobility Graphic Design

Challenge

As a major regional employer, CameronLNG faced a critical challenge: communicating long-term career growth opportunities to existing staff and prospective talent. Without visual tools, employees lacked insight into how to advance within the company. CameronLNG needed and intuitive visual resource that current staff could easily navigate and recruiters could use to showcase career development at job fairs.

Solution

Drawing inspiration from our career pathways work with Gatwick, we created a visual system tailored specifically to CameronLNG. Instead of complex digital files, we created two complementary visual roadmaps, a broad company-wide map and a targeted engineering guide, grounded in deep discovery, local research, and detailed mapping of job roles.

Outcome

The project provides CameronLNG with a foundational and scalable visual framework. By translating abstract HR paths into visual assets, the company gained a compelling recruitment and development tool as well as a clear internal structure that can evolve into a more advanced career development framework over time. The pathways demonstrated how someone could progress to be a team leader, as well as a deep expert.

The general career roadmap

The company-wide roadmap maps out cross-functional development, leadership programs, and department-level training:

  • Swamp-Map Framework: Different ‘pools’ represent distinct departments and training opportunities.
  • Navigation Routes: Clear visual routes guide employees through role shifts and leadership development initiatives. Skills development opportunities are highlighted using signposts.

The engineer career roadmap

Designed specifically for the engineering department, this roadmap uses the physical plant layout to map out specialised growth options:

  • Industrial Infrastructure: Uses pipe colours, line indicators, and plant labels to steer staff through progression milestones.
  • Dual Progression Tracks: The map features a distinct decision split, offering a Management Track and a Technical Mastery Track. Both of which ultimately converge at the Director or Advisor level.

The travel guide

Designed for the reverse of the career roadmap the travel guide works like a classic theme park map. It provides explanatory text detailing how to use the career roadmap as well as information about navigating careers at CameronLNG.

Bringing in the local details

To make the roadmaps resonate personally with the local workforce in Louisiana, we used extensive regional research into the visual aesthetics:

  • Geographic Identity: Incorporates native Louisiana swamp habitats, waterways, and local flora into the broad company map.
  • Regional Fauna: Features native wildlife throughout the design elements, including pink dolphins and local birds, give the HR tool a distinct, community-rooted identity.

“Working with the Electric Circus team was one of the best creative processes we’ve been through. From storyboarding and brainstorming to working through different concepts, the process was incredibly collaborative and thoughtful. They took the time to understand our culture and kept refining ideas until we landed on something that felt uniquely ours. The final product was fantastic, and we’re already looking forward to working with the team again.”
