Bringing the Hiscox LMS in-line with their learning culture

Challenge

Hiscox has a learning culture, but their existing LMS didn’t reflect it. The standard Cornerstone interface felt disconnected from the Hiscox brand, creating a divide between their high-quality content and the user experience. To drive engagement beyond mandatory training, they needed a platform that felt like an inspiring destination, not just a compliance tool.

Solution

We created a bespoke interface that sits over the Cornerstone LMS, acting as a digital storefront for their learning library. By combining custom UX design with a thoughtful learner journey, we aligned the technology with Hiscox’s visual identity. This solution preserved the backend of their existing LMS while providing a seamless, engaging front-end experience.

Outcome

The LMS has been transformed from a functional requirement into a high-impact talent touchpoint. Employees now interact with a platform that matches the Hiscox brand and feels engaging and intuitive to use. 

Enhancing the Cornerstone system

We built a programme interface that acts as an “elevated” overlay for their Cornerstone LMS. Rather than being limited by the rigid constraints of a standard portal, this custom solution allowed us to create a more engaging user experience. By creating this layer, we introduced features such as search functions and learning organised through categories. This functionality feels premium while remaining synced with Hiscox’s central reporting and data structures through Cornerstone.

Applying the Hiscox visual identity

We applied Hiscox’s visual identity to every digital touchpoint. By updating the visuals, we created a space where learners feel they are in a premium and professional learning environment, increasing the perceived value of the learning itself.

It’s been a real pleasure working with Electric Circus on our LMS project. Our goal was to make the platform more attractive, user-friendly, dynamic and aligned with our branding, while also encouraging employees to engage with it beyond just mandatory regulatory training. We can certainly say this was delivered. Our project manager was fantastic: always friendly, highly organised, and kept everything on track. He made the process easy and enjoyable, and all of my feedback and ideas (and there were plenty!) were taken on board and thoughtfully addressed. Custom features and functionality
